If you looked at this game in the preseason, you probably imagined the roles would be reversed. The undefeated USC Trojans would be playing a respectable opponent they were supposed to beat en route to their championship game appearance. Instead, the Fighting Irish are sitting at 11-0 and at number 1 in the country, and a win here puts them in the title game. The preseason number 1 Trojans have completely dropped out of the polls, the first ever preseason number 1 to have that happen.
