1* Take the Oakland Raiders ATS, Oakland is one of the toughest places in the NFL to play and even though this is just a preseason game you better believe the Raiders want to get the win more than the Saints at home Saturday. Javon Walker is expected to play against the Saints and his knee is 100% after having off-season knee surgery in a foreign country. The Raiders have looked good this preseason although these games are meaningless their defense has played solid. I look for the Raiders offense to have a big game at home against the Saints defense that was ranked 23rd in the league last season. This will not be a walk in the park for the Saints offense against a Raiders defense that was ranked 10th in the league last season against the pass especially when playing in a hostile environment. The Raiders defense allowed just 10 points at home against the Cowboys and they also held the 49ers to just 3 points on the road until the 4th quarter this preseason. Grab the points with the Oakland Raiders as my NFL Free Play for Saturday.

Vernon Croy is set to crush the books with his Saturday Night NFL Preseason Game of the Week that is backed by a full in-depth report so make sure you get on it now!

Indianapolis Colts vs. Detroit Lions
Indianapolis Colts

at 5DIMES

The Colts lost their Preseason opener at home, 3-13, against Minnesota as starting QB Manning didn't see much playing time and back-up QB Sorgi was injured a few days before the game. Last week, Indianapolis rebounded with a solid 23-15 victory against a tough Eagles squad as QB Manning completed 10 of 14 passes for 2 Touchdowns and new back-up QB Curtis Painter looked much more comfortable while going 11 of 19 for a 116 yards. With only 4 games on the exhibition schedule, week # 3 will be the most action that QB Manning will see and he should shred the Detroit Lions defense, which allowed a Cleveland Browns squad that hadn't scored a TD in their previous games to put up 27 points on the scoreboard last Saturday! In fact, the Lions went 0-16 last season and their defense hasn't improved much as Atlanta scored 26 points during the first week of Preseason. Lay the points with the road Favored Colts as we find them at 6-1 ATS when playing their 3rd game of Preseason.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys
San Francisco 49ers

Tonights matchup in Dallas should take you down memory lane to some epic battles between these two clubs. San Francisco holds a slight edge in the series with a 16-15-1 overall record. These two have met in the playoffs seven times with Dallas holding a 5-2 record in the postseason which includes four meetings in the NFC Championship Game. Its doubtful this game will be anything like those great games of the past but it still takes you back. In tonights contest the 49ers defense should get a shot in the arm with the return of their leading tackler LB Patrick Willis who suffered an ankle sprain on the opening day of training camp and has been sidelined for most of camp. The Cowboys are coming off a big win over the Titans in their first home game in their new stadium but that win came after losing to Oakland by a score of 31 to 10 on the road. The 49ers are coming in off two home wins and we know these road teams are a solid 35-21-1 ATS when they hit the road for the first time during the preseason. San Fran is also active in two more systems that tell us to Play On any road team off 2 home SU wins in their last 2 games, 24-11 ATS. Play On any road team with 2 or more SU wins versus an opponent with exactly 1 SU win, 42-17 ATS. Dallas on the other hand is in a negative situation that tells us to Play Against favorites who are coming in off a SU win of 20 or more points, 62-30 ATS since 2007. If our Play Against Favorite is favored by 2 or more points the record improves to 43-14 ATS since 2007. The current line is Dallas -7 and if that holds we know to Play Against home favorites of 7 or more points off a SU/ATS win now facing a non-winless team after scoring 17 or more points in their last game because playing against these favorites has produced a record of 14-0 ATS since 2007.

With significant technical support for the visitor we will back the 49ers here as they keep this one close and take the Cowboys right down to the wire.

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #279 Take Jacksonville over Miami (Monday 7:30 pm WFOR) It is really hard to ignore Jacksonville’s preseason record under Coach Jack Del Rio. He is 18-6 straight-up in the preseason and getting points is just icing on the cake. He is also impressive ATS going 16-8 in those same 24 games. The Jaguars have lost the last two games to Miami in the preseason and this is certainly a make or break year for Coach Del Rio. They will come out strong tonight and win this game in what will likely be a low scoring affair and taking the points is the only side to consider. Cleveland Browns vs. Green Bay Packers
Cleveland Browns

Former Jets Head Coach Eric Mangini was 3-1 SU during last year's exhibition season with New York. He's now in his first year in Cleveland and has brought most of his staff with him. You can be sure that he wants Browns ownership and fans to know that he can make this team a winner and that he was the right man for the job. A win here would increase everyones confidence following the Browns disappointing 4-12 finish to the 2008 season.
While Browns Quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Derek Andersen will never be confused with the Joe Montana and Steve Young controversy years ago in San Francisco, they are both capable of being starters in the NFL- Andersen played in the Pro Bowl a few years back and Quinn lead Notre Dame to several winning seasons and Bowl games. That was the past and they must now impress the new coaching staff that they can produce in the new offensive system as they battle for the starting position. Not only will this starting battle insure that both of these guys are going to be playing their best, but that they will be splitting a lot of playing time during the Preseason.
After a disappointing 6-10 finish last season, Green Bay hired Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers to install his 3-4 defensive system. While starting positions are up for grabs, changing from the 4-3 to the 3-4 will take some learning and may allow Clevelands battling QBs to mae some big plays in this preseason contest.

This exhibition game offers substantial history to follow as it relates to coaching philosophies. This year marks the 10th for Andy Reid as head coach of the Eagles and the ninth for Belichick leading the Pats. Coach Reid has never been about winning in the exhibition season, but rather about testing and evaluating new personnel. That is evidenced by the fact that Philadelphia has not had a winning record during the preseason for each of the last six seasons. His teams are 15-25 during the NFL-X under his tenure. His record gets even worse in week one, where Reid's Eagles are just 3-8. It is tough to lay points with a team that has a long history of winning very little under their current coach - especially in week one. Coach Belichick actually has a winning record since taking over at New England with a 20-17 mark. In week one preseason action, his Patriots teams are 6-4. In addition, normally Tom Brady could care less about playing in the preseason. But, this is not a normal year for him. Coming off a year of inaction, he's chomping at the bit and will play in this game. He wants to show everyone, including himself, that he's back. Coming off an 0-4 preseason last year, I look for the Pats to try to have added incentive win this year. I have an NFL-X system that backs teams that had a bad preseason last year that applies in this game. The system is 15-4 ATS including 5-1 the past three seasons. I'll take New England with the points in this one.

2009 Buffalo Bills NFL Season Preview by Vernon Croy

2009 Free NFL Pre-Season Picks The 2009 NFL Season is quickly approaching and fans for every team are chomping at the bit for some NFL betting action. Nothing beats the thrill of betting on live games and the upcoming NFL season should be no different. Fans of the Buffalo Bills are cautiously optimistic this year (almost like every year) that they'll be a playoff contender again. However, if you're checking out the free NFL football picks around the internet, you probably won't find Buffalo penciled into the Super Bowl just yet. Many questions remain as the 2009 campaign kicks off. Let's look at what to expect.

The Good News:
The biggest news in Buffalo Bill Land is the addition of Terrell Owens. That's right...T.O. is in town. He brings with him a lot of experience and game-breaking ability. When he is motivated, his talent level is as good as any receiver in the league right now. Although he might be a ...Read More

2009 Cincinnati Bengals: NFL Betting Picks Preview

2009 Cincinnati Bengals NFL Picks Betting Preview by Vernon Croy

NFL football betting is all about finding an undervalued team and riding it to victory on the moneyline. If you can find someone that the experts don't believe in and pick them to win, you have a good chance of making some money. Don't expect the Cincinnati Bengals to be that team in 2009. They will probably be more respectable this year than they were last year. But seriously...how could they be any worse? They were the worst team in the league on offense last year and they can only go up from there.

The Good News: The best thing the Bengals have to look forward to this season is the return of injured quarterback Carson Palmer. Palmer was out for the majority of the season last year with an injury. His absence had a domino effect on the rest of the team. The two Pro Bowl caliber wide receivers were mostly non-factors. Without a quarterback the receivers couldn't get the ball. This in turn allowed teams to cheat up and stop the run as well. Without an offense that could drive down the field, the defense didn't get much rest and was pretty bad in their own right. The Bengals did add a few good players in the off-season. They added a good receiver in Laveranues Coles from the Jets. They added a big-name safety in Roy Williams and a big defensive tackle in Tank Johnson. Their first two draft picks brought in some good talent in Andre Williams and Rey Maualuga. They're hoping that Maualuga can bring in some leadership to the defense right off the bat.

The Bad News: The Bengals lost their best receiver in T.J. Houshmandzadeh to the Seahawks. Now they are left with Chad Ochocinco and Coles to take care of the receiving duties. T.J.'s loss will be felt in the offense this year. The Bengals also have to worry about the usual legal troubles for their players. Despite having the most players in legal trouble the last few years, they went ahead and gambled on Tank Johnson and Andre Smith. This means they just added two more questionable players to the lineup. For those of you who missed it, Tank got in trouble with a gun a few years back and Smith went crazy during the NFL combine this year. He came in out of shape for the biggest showcase of his life and then just decided to quit and go home. He seems like a time bomb just waiting to go off.

Outlook: If you're looking for free NFL picks, I've got a great one for you here. Don't pick the Bengals to do anything this year. There's really not a game on the schedule that is a sure thing for them. Every week is going to be a challenge just to stay in the game. Look for them to maybe get one or two more wins than they had last year. Beyond that, you can pretty much forget about the Cincinnati Bengals this year.
